Wii News: (repeated from top of page)

1/1/2009 IMPORTANT NEWS FOR MODCHIPPED Wii OWNERS
Please DO NOT accept any firmware updates to your Wii online or from game discs for the moment.

Wiikey modchip owners

  • If you haven't had your Wiikey modchip firmware updated since before March 2008 it is important that you get it done now. Please keep your wiikey up to date !

D2CPro & other D2C modchips

  • No updates are needed for these D2C mods
  • WHY NOT? (Boring tech-talk warning) The D2C chips are vastly more complicated than earlier model chips and work in a completely different way. D2A & D2B chips have connections soldered to the Serial port lines of the drive controller, they inject some code and then go to sleep. This method does not work with the D2C controller so the D2C chips use something called an 'Intelligent Code Modifying System' which constantly monitors data on address and data buses, patching it if needed. By interfacing more of the circuitry of the controller chip (about 30 wires to the Controller chips pins vs just a few to the controllers chips serial port pins on older models) the D2C mod has a better understanding of what's going on inside as it intelligently injects code on the fly. Hence is far less likely to need any future upgrades compared to a Wiikey or similar D2A & D2B chips.

NEW D2C & D2E Wiikey 2

  • We are now fitting the new Wiikey 2 modchip to all newer Wii console models above the LAH 10216 serial number. We beleive it's currently the best late model Wii modchip on the market.

Pictures of the D2C Wii modchip installation area :)

The 10 cent coin is shown for scale, this photo is ZOOMED UP much larger than lifesize

This is how you identify the D2C chip inside an open Wii. PLEASE don't open your Wii to look at it - simply check the serial number against the one in the pricing table above to see if you have a D2C

These are most of the wiring point marked in red dots for the D2C modchips to be wired/soldered to. This is ZOOMED WAY UP !! The actual size is ridiculously small as can be gathered from the 10 cent coin photo
